Canton Newsletter: "In a Nutshell"
Submission Guidelines:Please send submissions to: Chronicler Lady Katrine Lyndesay (click on name to send mail; requires a default mail program). 1. Content Acceptable content includes nearly anything related to our time period or the SCA in general: articles, recipes, artwork (including cartoons) (black and white artwork preferred), fiction, poetry, interviews, and whatever else you feel inspired to create or recreate. Articles about period combat, games, armor-making, heraldry, illumination, etc., are most welcome. Personal commentary about the SCA is also welcome. However, content that includes personal attacks or other inflammatory material will not be published. Also, no copyrighted material should be submitted to the Chronicler without the needed permissions (see #4). Publication is monthly, but four issues each year have seasonal themes. I especially encourage submissions with any seasonal themes for these issues (a Winter Brew recipe for the winter issue, for example). Please spellcheck text submissions. Your submission may not appear in the next issue if the Chronicler needs extra time to fix excessive spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. 2. Deadlines The deadline for submissions for the January issue -- the first issue -- will be January 20. After that, I'll move the deadline to the 10th or so of each month to follow the Canton meeting more closely. Current submission deadlines for seasonal special issues are: Winter January 20 3. Format Send text submissions as plain text (files ending in .txt) or MS Word email attachments to canton_chronicler (at) yahoo.com. (If you send a Word document and I don't recognize your address, I might follow up with a few questions before opening it.) For images, use .jpg or .gif format. 4. Permissions Each submission must be accompanied by some kind of statement from the author giving me permission to publish it electronically, or it can't go in In a Nutshell. Something like "It is OK to publish this electronically" in the body of the email is fine. I also need permission from the author to reprint previously published material. Thanks so much for your contributions. They not only show the diversity of activities we're engaged in here, but they save the populace from solely hearing me prattle on in each issue! Best regards,
